The sound here isn't quite as good because it's the Beacon Theater (bigger place) but otherwise similar sound as the Smucker's one still quite enjoyable for 77 audience tape. It's the only version I've heard of this show and I feel no need for a better version. They both sound like clean 1st gen. transfers and as far as I know both of them are complete sets. thanks to rg for providing the recording, he did a good job with both and I believe managed not to cut any songs in either of them. I like the 77 Brand X stuff for the Kenwood Dennard (always excellent drummer) and because John Goodsall still sounded like John Goodsall (maybe my favorite of his, 76 and 77). It's just not quite Brand X without a (reasonably) healthy John Goodsall. This one has a good performance that sounds like Brand X, always preferable at a Brand X concert, unlike the 3 and 4 cylinder versions they brought to Boston in 78 trying perhaps to make up for leaving Boston with NO Brand X 1977 CONCERT. Some may not understand this, but it was just as rude and harsh a punishment as not being able to see Led Zeppelin in 1975 (or 77) in Boston. No Physical Graffiti, no Moroccan Roll. The busing problems were bad enough, and these did not help. You'll have to look elsewhere for the Physical Graffiti (and there are only about 100 shows to pick from out there, of course every one EXCEPT the 1 I'd want to hear from Chicago, with the Levee in it), but for all of you deprived (for any reason) of your Moroccan Rolls, or just looking for a fresh new one, here's a nice 52 min. snack to munch out with. Enjoy all. Do not sell this recording. Trade freely, losslessly and gaplessly. ************************************************* (1) Announcer: "... are in the radio clyde (?) are Proud to present Arista/Passport recording artists Brand X" [A buzz (.24-1.06) causes the band to eventually sort of pause] (2) [Lumley? does the talking at first] Thank you. Hello, Good evening, and welcome to Brand X. And you're very welcomed to Brand X. That was a tune called Disco Suicide from an album called Morrocan Roll. And according to my list the next tune is one that you haven't heard before. In fact we've only heard it twice and one of those was in rehearsal at the soundcheck. This is a new tune, which isn't on any of the records just as yet, and it's called Access To Data. (3) ... a live version of a tune from a live album, would you believe. As well as being a tune from another studio album. The tune is Malaga Virgen and it comes from an album called MR and Livestock. The Livestock one is what we're going to do now. [Goodsall is now doing the talking] (4) Thank you, ou ou ou! We're going to do another new tune now written by Morris Pert. It's called... well it's called Earth Dance. [Lumley ? is now doing the talking] (5) ..which again has yet to be commited to disc or to an asylum, whichever you think is the more appropriate in our case. And it's a tune again written by Mr. Morris 'bash everything in site' Pert over there. And it's called Deadly Lampshade (that's what he says) ** Below is not on this recording, but is on the 46m one ** Announcer says something that sounds like a foreign language for a bit. Then he says "Let's hear it". Kenwood Dennard Drums John Goodsall Guitar Percy Jones Bass Robin Lumley Keyboards Morris Pert Percussion
